Becoming

Inhabiting a human body is not so different from playing a virtual reality game.

Except our avatar isn't a digital asset, without feeling or sentience, it's an organic being that's alive and very real. We feel its pain, and its pleasure. We see its thoughts, speak its words and command its actions. We experience its impulse to survive, move its limbs and touch the world.

We're in a relationship with it. We're responsible for it. And how we are with it matters. If we mistreat it, use it, abuse it, hack it, neglect it, judge it, blame it, hate it… we trigger no end of suffering and conflict; within ourselves, and with those around us.

Yet if we honour it, notice it, appreciate it, listen to it, protect it, nourish it, love it… we foster trust, a sense of unity, and we shine.

If we are asleep at the wheel of our own human being, we wreak havoc. But if we wake up, grow up and take on this deep and complex responsibility, we cultivate a union that brings light into the darkness and initiates our true becoming.
